I'm very excited to find out that Cirque the Soleil is going to be doing an Avatar inspired show, starting in November 2015. And that they will be coming to Montreal as well! Nawm and I are definitely going!

Actually, we found the full list of venues and it's going to be showing in Hamilton, Ontario too, which is only 20 minutes away!!! So we''re absolutely going!

Re: TORUK The First Flight by Cirque the Soleil
Irayo for posting this news about the new Avatar-inspired Cirque show (which apparently is going to be something of a prequel to the original film)!
Over the yrs I've seen two Cirque shows (both in Vegas) and they were both great -- I really enjoyed them. I think Avatar and Cirque du Soleil should make for a great combo, and I can't wait to see this new production! The two "closest" locations to where I am (in NJ) are Cincinnati, Ohio and Providence, Rhode Island. Though I've never been to Montreal, Quebec, and have always wanted to visit there, so I might consider seeing the show there.
Hmmm....maybe groups of us fans can have meet-ups at certain performances?

Re: TORUK The First Flight by Cirque the Soleil
I was just going to propose that!
We will not be going to the show in Montreal, because we don't want to drive for 5 hrs in December (Eywa knows what the weather conditions will be like that time of year!). Instead we will be going to the show in Hamilton, ON (close to Toronto) in the weekend of 20-22 May 2016. Anyone interested in coming over and joining us?
Hopefully by that time we'll have a place with enough space to have some guests, so you won't need to pay for a hotel.

Re: TORUK The First Flight by Cirque the Soleil
Cirque du Soleil has launched a funky looking sweepstakes contest!
Check out https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/toruk/pandora?explore
You get to discover artifacts and information of 5 different Na'vi clans, one of which are the Omaticaya. After you've unlocked at least 12 artifacts, you can enter the contest to win 4 tickets to a show. But it's worth it to see the artwork and read all the little bits of info, even if you don't want to enter in the contest.
Which clan would you like to belong to, if you were a Na'vi? For me it would be the Anurai, the artistic clan.
PS: sign up for Club Cirque and you get this kind of stuff in your mailbox as well.

That was great.
I laughed at the randomly dropped loincloth.
I think I'd go for Tawkami - I'm a plant-person

Re: TORUK The First Flight by Cirque the Soleil
Yeah, thanks for posting about this! I went through the whole thing and "gathered" all the artifacts for each clan, and I also entered the contest/sweepstakes to win those free tickets. I loved looking at the different, beautiful Pandoran landscapes/backgrounds and learning facts about the different clans (4 of which were new to me, except for the Omaticaya of course). And as for which of the 5 clans I'd like to belong to, I think it would be either the Omaticaya (for obvious reasons) or the Anurai (since I'm something of an artist myself, and just an art enthusiast in general).Atokirina wrote:Cirque du Soleil has launched a funky looking sweepstakes contest!

I did all the artifact hunting, but maybe the free ticket drawing is closed? I couldn't enter.
Either way this looks like it could be pretty cool, just as a concept. I'll be interested to see more info as they release it.

Ooh, TORUK - The First Flight have posted a picture of the
Anuri Clan's Storyteller!! Just thought I'd mention it... for no reason.

Hmm, should we see the show in Toronto where I work, or in Hamilton where we live? Decisions, decisions.

Yep, we moved. Atokirina and I bought a house together in Hamilton, about 15 minutes away from where we used to be because houses were cheaper and now we have a nice big workshop for our FX business. Toruk just happens to be coming to a venue 10 minutes from our house.

I wonder how they'll manage to keep the tails under control - I mean they're missing real control after all.

Re: TORUK The First Flight by Cirque the Soleil
Earlier this month I finally got to see this show when it came to the Prudential Center arena in Newark, NJ. It was truly Txantsan! What an awesome, beautiful, powerful, amazing experience! I *loved* it!
Seeing this show brought back to me some of the same feelings I had the first time I saw Avatar, and I just had this overall feeling of pure elation right through to the end of the performance.
I definitely want to see TORUK again if I can (maybe next year when it comes to Philly in March).

If everything goes as usual it should be on arte +7 afterwards, so you can watch it over internet.
