A song that I heard when I was a kid. Downloaded it from Amazon.com several nights ago. Been listening to it for close to 1300 miles straight. :lala:

Yeah... somehow that's a childhood song. And it's beautiful.

It always leaves me behind with a lump in my throat and a slightly foggy sight.

For anyone that has already watched "How To Train Your Dragon 2", or those who haven't, a little something that I found quite enchanting.

A couple tunes that I have come to adore. The sad part, the orchestra that performed the music was disbanded some years back. And its hard to fathom that since I listened to a lot of their music when I was growing up(compliments of my mother). Just another beautiful part of everyday life that has faded into memory. :tears:

They somehow fit into the season, especially the second one.

For some reason they remind me of my childhood. Long Sunday afternoons in winter, feeling as if they dragged on forever. And the radio my mom was listening to while doing her household chores.

We had this massive stereo made by Packard Bell. Had the turntable, and radio combination, and weighed over 200 pounds. It wasn't designed for a room listening device. When it played, it covered the house and the yard. You really didn't need to open the door. :omg: They really built them back in the late 60's. Mom used to play an assortment of records on it. Some of those records we still have today.

We had what was called "Schneewittchensarg" (Snowwhite's coffin) - made by the back then famous company Braun.

And nobody was allowed to use it but my dad - he was soooooo scared that one of us would break it. (Of course it broke over the years, but at least it wasn't my mom's or my fault :hee: )

So my mom had a small radio-clock combination in her kitchen - a little bit like this one:

I think I still can hear the "click" when a minute went by and those little slides turned around.

But there are a few records back at home. Even some of the very old ones who still needed the 78-speed-setting. Old Glenn Miller recordings, for example. And there are two original singles from my mom: Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley and White Christmas by Bing Crosby :D
