Hey - mostly OK (I guess). had a dentists appointment today at a new place for checkup and cleaning .... and now I feel like I never want to touch my gums ever again. :oh: It'll pass (but not today).

It has been raining over the last few days (thank *please insert preferred option here*) so the drought could finally be alleviated a little bit. It also was colder than before but today it started to warm up again.

On another note: Next week to go and then I got 3 weeks off.

So, I have 9 days off... the last day off being next Thursday, so I would have to work on Friday, which is not a big deal. So my boss phoned me, and said you know what, I am ordering you to stay at home on that friday... because the teambuilding event will take place on your first day off and I can't tolerate that :D

So because I intentionally accepted to participate in the teambuilding on my day off, she converted that into a working day and gave me one extra day off :D

Soo ... on Sunday - the day before the official first day of my days-off - the uusal evening phonecall with grandma "I need you to drive grandpa to the doctor tomorrow. For the last three days he could only sleep sitting for lack of having air - he can't breathe properly during sleep. He's fine during the day though but really has issues getting up the stairs. It must surely be something with his heart."

Wait at the 'family doctor' before he opens (so we don't have to wait for so long), wait inside - immediately getting sent to the cardiologist (luckilgy smae building one floor higher) - discuss obvious urgency - as also stated in the papers from the family doctor - to the receptionist, who was rather impolite. Waited outside for another hour (they could've at least put out a chair or two). Getting called back in by the cardiologist - turns out one of grandpas hear valves is heavily calcified and needs to be replaced ASAP, so she's sending him to the hospital right then and there, where they will test again (and obviously more). Next day it was said "Yeah maybe we can fix this with medication alone." Today it was stated that he not only will definitively need a new valve but the whole thing will have to be rather big (so no 'keyhole surgery') as despite good heart action, blodd pressure and so on a lot more areas around his heart are calcified too. He'll be send to a specialised clinic tomorrow.

Frick this. A lot.

Sorry for rantig.

So sorry to hear that, Elyris. :crying:

My grandmother are on the deathbed as well now, just a few days to go. Most of her internal organs have shut down and necrosis have started to set in on her legs.
But atleast she's happy with what she has accomplished in life and wish to see her beloved husband again in the afterlife.

On another note.
I'm battling with my mental health a lot. Got diagnosed with bipolar-2 this spring which explain a few things about my random behavior from time to time. :oh:
Also got yet another chronic illness called Meniere's desease which gives me extreme vertigo from time to time. Probably inherited from my father that have the same disease.

On a good note.
Got a job offer for a garden center this fall with possibilities to start an aquaponic and hydroponic system. In the meantime I'll do a work training at another garden center right outside of town, starting next Monday. :heeyy:

In late 2003 I got the news, while in Africa, that my grandmother is about to die. She was diabetic. She got some relatively minor injury on her leg. However, the necrosis took off quite quickly. Doctors said that, having in mind her age and health condition, life expectancy after amputating the leg would be 6 months. Despite being seriously sedated, she heard and understood and said something like "Hell no, don't amputate!". She passed away less than 3 days later. She was an extremely gentle soul... and a WW2 hero. Just like my grandfather who died in 1999.

Hi! I'm back! And sorry to hear about everyone's grandparents. :(

On another note. So for the past 12 years I've been dying to hear any tidbit of info on the Avatar sequels. And now that we're getting it, I'm feeling overwhelmed, with all the new characters and with the info they're giving without it all fitting neatly together. I thought I'd be absorbing as much of it as fast as I could, but I find myself thinking stuff like: they have another child? I'm so not ready for reading about that right now.
It's just so much all of a sudden, after being deprived of new content for so long. Is that weird? It feels like it's weird. :geek:

Uhm - hi everyone. :)

Uh-oh - there was quite a bit of traffic in the meantime.

Thank you all for your good wishes and also sorry to hear about your families.

Somehow it seems like practically no one (including younger people) is just healthy anymore :oh:

I am still thinking we do not treat ourselves species-appropiate.

As an update on the situation over here:

Grandpa had his surgery on friday the 24th and wasn't too well over the weekend after - not so much physically, as being not fit at all was to be expected - but more liek mentally ... narcotics can really do a number on your brain. The hospital staff were already telling us that he most like would have to go into geriatric care, but from where we were standing it was way too early to make such a decision, delerious or not.
Things went up and down for the next week, but improved slowly. After 12 days in intensive care he got transferred back to the hospital here and today the doctor was stating that he'll probably can leave and go home at the end of this week. (Yes - no real rehab period as apperently they "are not doing things like that" anymore).

Anyways - this is all good news and I hope things will just continue to go well and improve (although I can already hearing him grumbling about having to slow down and rest - he's got 'bees in his behin' how we say here).

So - again: thank you all for you wishes. And I wish you all well as well.

Hi again!

Well, grandma died peacefully and had a beautiful funeral for her.

Other than that it's going ok I guess.

We have seen it 3 times so far: 2 times we drove to Toronto (1 hr away from where we live) to see it in the IMAX 3D theater that has a laser projector, plus 1x in 4DX (with motion seats, and wind, fog and scent effects). It is soo good to see it on the big screen again, and the new remastered HDR version is gorgeous!! So much detail that I've never seen before. Plus it had little sneak peeks of the new movie at the end. :fantasy: :fantasy:

It's still playing for one more week here, so we might be able to catch it a 4th time. :hee:

Suppose I should've started a new thread to talk about the rerelease. I'm so out of practise foruming. :oh:

Ah - OK ... good luck with that. And thank you. :)

I will try my best (and now I have to go and try to explain the colleague at regulatory affairs that just because a document is one way in Qatar doesn't mean it's the same in Oman and even if so we can only work on basis of what we got and go from there :hoho: )

Hey everyone!
With Halloween over, and only 32 days until the new movie, hopefully I will remember to check in more often :hee:

Nawm is by the way still having issues logging in. Hopefully that'll also be fixed by the forum software update?

Oh and I've been meaning to ask you Elyris (if you don't mind me asking) how is your hair doing these days? Last I remember is that you chopped it all off to start fresh (yea I know that's years ago), and I really hope that your natural hair is healthy and looking great these days
